Shellfish Hatchery Panel Discussion

St. Martha’s Episcopal Church will host a public panel discussion on water quality in Delaware’s Inland Bays and the need for a shellfish hatchery on Thursday, April 21 at 7:00 PM in the parish hall in Bethany Beach.

Speakers will include UD professor and researcher Ed Hale, Center for Inland Bays executive director Chris Bason, and lifelong waterman Steve Friend. The speakers will discuss the need for a shellfish hatchery in Delaware (one of only two East Coast states without one) to provide sound ecological and economic activity that improves our waterways, creates jobs, and aids oyster farmers. They will also detail the current plans for a research facility and how this effects Inland Bays water quality.
