Water Family Fest & Native Plant Sale

The 2022 event on May 14 was a success! Thank you to all of our sponsors, exhibitors, vendors, and attendees! We look forward to 2023 (Details to come).

The Center in partnership with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will host the annual Water Family Fest & Native Plant Sale on Saturday, May 14, 2022 (rain or shine). It will take place outdoors at the James Farm Ecological Preserve (30048 Cedar Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE, 19970). This free, family-friendly event will feature outdoor recreation and educational opportunities, multiple vendors, food trucks, and of course, a native plant sale.

Attendees are encouraged to take their time exploring the array of exhibits provided by numerous organizations throughout the duration of the event. From clean water to shellfish to living shorelines and wetlands, and much more, there are topics for everyone! Local nurseries will also be present to answer questions on the importance of native species and gardening and will have a variety of native plants for sale to the public.

Throughout the event, there will also be a series of short talks provided on diverse topics such as Diamondback terrapins and invasive species. Additionally, family-friendly activities including horseshoe crab tagging, fish seining, bird identification, and a guided walk throughout the Preserve’s beautiful trails will be available!
