Gardening for the Bays Native Plant Sale

When: April 30th, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Where: James Farm Ecological Preserve on Cedar Neck Road in Ocean View, DE

Price: Admission, presentations, trail walks and exhibits are all FREE
           Plants, gardening items and food will be available for purchase.

Celebrate the return of spring at the 12th Annual “Gardening for the Bays” Native Plant Sale

The native flowers, ferns, grasses, trees and shrubs for sale are the main attraction, but the event also offers guided walks on the trails, ‘how to’ demonstrations, exhibits, a children’s tent, and gardening advice from experts.

Thousands of plants will be available for sun, shade, wet gardens and sandy soils, wherever your garden grows around the Inland Bays!

“Gardening for the Bays” t-shirts, gardening gloves and aprons, one-of-a-kind bee houses and rain barrels*
(*limited supply, first-come, first served)


Food for Hungry Gardeners:
 

Sandwiches, hotdogs and more for sale from the Good Earth Market


For Children (and the young at heart): 

BugsPaint a rain barrel to be used at the James Farm year-round and decorate your own butterfly puppet! Then check out some “creepy-crawly” insects with Dennis Bartow!


Presentation and Trail Walk Schedule:

8:00 am – Bird Walk led by Sharon Lynn of Sussex Bird Club

9:00 am – Plant Sale officially begins (Vendors open for sale)

9:30 am – Trail Walk with Dr. Tom Lord

10:15 am – Presentation by the DE Master Gardeners

11:00 am – Trail Walk with Dr. Dennis Bartow

11:45 am – Presentation TBA

 1:00 pm – Sale Ends
